Welcome to the Gamma-Ray Burst (GRB) Lottery!

GRBs are huge cosmic explosions that mark the births of black holes. They can happen anywhere in the sky, at any time. In the GRB Lottery, you get to guess where you think the next one will happen and mark that spot on the sky. If your guess is closer than anyone else’s, you win!

The GRB Lottery is not hard to play: just pick and click a spot! But to help you better understand how this works, you should read up on what GRBs are, and then take a look at the GRB Real Time Map below. The current guesses are plotted as pentagons and the most recent GRBs are stars.
